AC Shadows Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a surprising crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the official release, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a secret sect.
The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses
The teaser showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, probably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Extra Material
Players who accomplish the adventure will obtain an unique katana alongside numerous artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a original environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with well-known anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
